This parasite dipteran could have naturally expanded from Asia to Poland or was accidentally introduced together with its hosts – sika deer Cervus nippon or Siberian roe deer Capreolus pygargus.

While the may be cryptogenic in Poland, it is certainly invasive. It may transfer parasites and disease to cervids, cattle and humans. Bites are painful and may result in skin inflammation.
