The phytosociological database ‘Grasslands in the Polish Carpathians’ contains 5893 relevés from both published and unpublished sources. Also included is data from observations of Natura 2000 grassland habitats, obtained during the implementation of the State Environmental Monitoring Programme – under the programme of “Monitoring of species and habitat types with particular regard to special areas of conservation of the Natura 2000 network” based on a commission from the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection, financed from the funds of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
The resources of the databases are continually being supplemented – presently mainly through the inclusion of our own unpublished materials.

All available phytosociological relevés, both published and unpublished, performed on a surface area exceeding 4 m², where there are reasons to doubt the correctness of species identification, are inserted into the database.
In order to supplement the existing materials, in relevés performed under the project No. N N305 283137 „Phytosociological database for assessment of the state, diversity and changes of grassland vegetation in Polish Carpathians”, apart from standard data (e.g. author, date, geographical coordinates, description of location and habitats, temporary name of association/community, vertical and horizontal structure of vegetation), the thickness of the litter layer, as well as all available information on the use (e.g. the method, intensity, frequency, and past use(s), and the duration of the period without use) were recorded. The relevés were completed on an area spanning 25 m², with the species coverage evaluated according to the extended, 9-degree Braun-Blanquet’s scale.
