Comparative assessment justification:
The geosite in the Huwniki belongs to the stratotypic area of the Cisowa Mbr in the Ropianka Fm. The geosite from the meander between Makowa and Rybotycze belongs to the stratotypic area of the Wiar Member in the Ropianka Formation.

Protection status and accessibility:
Four protected documentary sites of inanimate nature (1995). The total meander valley is proposed as nature reserve “Dolina Wiaru" (Wiar Valley).

Description of primary interest:
The site in Rybotycze occurs on right-side tributary of the Wiar. Close to the mouth of this stream, its valley forms a gorge with steep walls and is barriered by the stream falls down (15 m.). The rocks represent the Cisowa Mbr (Touronian–Early Campanian) and belong to the lower part of the Ropianka Fm (Inoceramian Beds). They begin with shales and sandstones (about 30 m.), overlain by hard, siliceous Hołownia Marls (70 m). They also contain lenses of cherts, layers of conglomerates with fragments of black and green shales, and trace fossils of Chondrites isp. The upper part of the profile represent the Rybnik Flysch (90 m), underlain by a correlation layer of the variegated shale Terszów Bed and overlain by the variegated shale of the Kanasin Bed (Early Campanian). The bearings of the complex resting in the normal position are 130/50/SW. The site between Makowa and Rybotycze occurs in the right bank of the Wiar upstream of Makowa, in the Rybotycze - Leszczyny tectonic scale. The length of the outcrop is 250 m. with height 15 m; the rocks rest normally 175/45/SW. The rocks belong to the Wiar Mbr (Late Campanian – Late Maastrichtian) of the Ropianka Fm. The profile starts with the Kropiwnik Fucoid Marl of the calcareous flysch, spanning the age Late Campanian – Early Maastrichtian, and contain intercalations of sandstones and marly shales. The overlaying complex is the normal Turnica Flysch dated at Early (?) to Late Maastrichtian. The strata are rich in microfauna and diagnostic shells of inocerams.
