Description of primary interest:
The quarry is situated on the south slope of the Hrobacza Łąka Hill in Beskid Mały Range and is one of the largest and best preserved exposures of the Lgota Beds (middle part) of Silesian Unit in the Flysh Carpathians. Sequence of sandstones and shales (about 150 m of 220 m whole thickness) with various types of sedimentary structure exposed here. Very characteristic for Lgota Beds is regular bedding typical for turbiditic sedimentation. The quarry has 3 levels: 1) 80 m thick, the rate of sandstones and shales is about 1:1, 2) 45 m thick, more sandstones than shales, conglomerate and white sandstone occur occasionally, 3) 25 m thick, more shales than sandstones. Generally, the amount of sandstone and shales is 60% and 30 % respectively. Lgota sandstones (1 to 100 cm thick) are characterized by different types of bedding: horizontal, diagonal, cross-bedded, fractional, convolute and mixed. Laminas are from fraction of millimetre to 1 cm. There is possible to examine fragments of coal and different type of hieroglyphs: current, loaded and also trails of dragging. Current hieroglyphic shows transport direction of clastic material from W to E (azimuth 110˚). Also some erosional and non-erosional convex of layers and lenses appear here.
