Summary  It is a Tatra endemite and postglacial relict, living at high altitudes in intermittent streams in the Tatra National Park. Eggs are laid in autumn; in winter they pass a diapause, larvae develop in spring, pupae in summer, and imagines appear in autumn. The state of Allogamus starmachi population is poorly known. Periodical monitoring of the population is needed to determine its size and identify threats. The species is not protected by law but its localities are protected in the Tatra National Park.
