| Summary | Messor structor is a widely distributed Mediterranean species, whose northern part of the range extends to the south of Central Europe; it is a granivorous stenotope connected with xerothermophilous grassland habitat. From the area of present Poland reported for the first time in the earlier part of the 19th century (Lower Silesia and Kłodzko Region), and next from the Góry Świętokrzyskie Mts. in 1984. It is an occasional element in the Polish fauna of ants, and probably not established. No recommendations for conservation are proposed. | |
