Summary | The species occurs locally in Poland. It is found in open areas, mainly on hillocks overgrown with blackthorn, along railways and at the edges of pine forests. Larger concentrations of localities are in forest areas where the sugarberry has been planted to enrich the habitat. Iphiclidus podalirius is not particularly threatened in Poland. To promote the species one should spare trees and bushes, growing on forest edges, on which its caterpillars feed. I. podalirius is protected by law in Poland. | |
