| Summary | It is a stenotopic, flightless, freshwater weevil, developing in submerged internodes of Phragmites australis and Phalaris arundinacea. It occurs in natural floods of larger rivers, rarely in shallow lakes; sensitive to water pollution and excessive development of algae. In the past 50 years it has been found in Poland only in the lower Biebrza River valley. Endangered in the whole range by water pollution and vanishing of suitable habitats, particularly due to anthropogenic transformations of river valleys. It is recommended that all its localities should be protected as nature reserves. | |
