| Summary | The species was previously known from a few localities in the northern and southern parts of the country but now occurs only in the Białowieża Forest. It is associated with the occurrence of spruce and lichens Usnea spp., which its caterpillars feed on. Its regress may be attributed to the decline of lichens that are hosts for its larvae due to air pollution and changes in water conditions (drainage) in forest habitats. The proposed conservation measures should focus on the elimination of threatening factors and, above all, on the protection of localities with lichens from the genus Usnea, the main element of the Dotted Carpet basis of development. | |
