| Summary | Liparus coronatus occurs at few isolated localities, situated mostly in the southern part of Poland. In the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century it was collected at lower altitudes in the Carpathians, in the Sudety Mountains and on the Kraków-Wieluń Upland and the Western Volhynian Upland. After 1950 it has been noted in 8 upland localities and in the environs of Kalisz (Silesian Lowland), and on the lower Vistula River in Włocławek. It is a xerothermic species living on different Apiaceae but data from Poland concern foraging on Peucedanum cervaria only. The species occurs in xerothermic grasslands, usually on limestone, gypsum and chalk substrata, probably leading a nocturnal, aboveground mode of life. Threats to its populations include all these factors which cause the transformation of grasslands into forests, shrubs, arable fields, or other anthropogenic communities. Not protected by law. Of its localities, three are situated within nature reserves protecting xerothermic vegetation. | |
