| Summary | It is a thermophilous spider species of the Pontic origin, occurring in Central and South-Eastern Europe and in Turkmenistan. In Poland it is known from some ten-twenty locations in the south-eastern part of the country and one locality in Pomerania. It lives in colonies on the slopes of hills, in natural habitats of open steppe character. Spiders stay in a hole, in the ground, linen with silk, with a protruding, finger-like silk tube which serves to catch prey through. It is protected by law and some localities are protected in nature reserves. A threat to the species is loss and degradation of its habitats due to natural succession and human economic activity. | |
