| Summary | It is a xerophilous species occurring in warm places on sand, amongs stones, rocks and low vegetation. Common in the Mediterranean region, found in warmer places through the whole Palaearctic region. Absent from the northern part of Europe. In Poland Philaeus chrysops is only known from few places, situated mostly in the southern part of the country. Only two of the eight localities are situated in the area of national parks (Pieniny NP, Kampinos NP). P. chrysops has been protected by Polish nature conservation law since 1995. | |
