| Summary | It is a relict of primeval forests, mainly coniferous ones, and an exceptionally rare and endangered species in the whole of its range. In Poland it is known from 3 localities but currently reported from the Białowieża Forest only. The greatest threat to the species is posed by the decline of forests of natural and primeval character, as well as by the removal of dead trees from forests, which reduces a potential development base for this species. As the biology of Buprestis splendens is poorly known, it is difficult to recommend special measures for its conservation. More dead trees (particularly pines which are probably the most important host plant) should certainly be left in forests. Protected by law. | |
