Summary | Zygaena cynarae is known from a few scattered localities in southern and eastern Poland. It occurs in mid-forest meadows, as well as on roadsides and along railways in pine forests. Peucedanum oreoselinum and also P. cervaria L. are host plants of its larvae. In Poland the species is threatened due to both anthropogenic transformations of the environment and overgrowing of habitats as the result of natural succession. Conservation efforts should focus on shaping habitats according to Z. cynarae ecological requirements. | |
