Opilo pallidus (Olivier, 1795)

Pasterek blady

Familia  Cleridae
Ordo  Coleoptera
Classis  Insecta
Typus  Arthropoda

Summary  It is a very rare predatory forest species, associated with top branches of old and dying deciduous trees, mostly oaks, attacked by cambioxylophages. Not protected by law in Poland. During the last years its occurrence has only been confirmed in the Pomerania Lake District, Wielkopolska, Mazowsze Lowland, Trzebnica Hills and Upper Silesia. A decrease in its population and in the number of its localities is connected with habitat loss. The only method for Opilo pallidus conservation in Poland is to maintain the age and species diversity of trees in forests and urban parks and stop the removal of dead trees, inhabited by these insects.
