| Summary | Aphrophora similis is an Asian-Siberian, higro- and heliophilous postglacial relict. The only few European localities of this species are in the north-eastern Poland, in the Białowieża Forest and in the Biebrza River Basin. It is threatened primarily due to drainage and degradation of its main habitat, i.e. wet meadows and peatland. Some localities on the Biebrza River Valley have most probably disappeared. The known localities are protected in the Białowieża National Park and in the Biebrza NP. The existing forms of protection of the habitat and localities of the species should be maintained. | |
