Ceropales albicincta (Rossi, 1790)

Kołowatek jasnoczułki

Familia  Pompilidae
Ordo  Hymenoptera
Classis  Insecta
Typus  Arthropoda

Summary  A highly xerothermophilous species, associated with areas of steppe character, extremely rare. In Poland it occurs at the northern border of the geographical range. Until 1950 it had only been found in the environs of Szczecin where two males were collected (in 1896 and 1935). In 1983 the occurrence of this species was confirmed in Poland, on the basis of one individual caught in Pytowice (Małopolska Upland). It is threatened with extinction due to overgrowing and afforestation of xerothermic grassland communities. Not protected by law. The maintenance of the species in the country requires conservation of steppe biotopes which it is associated with. Monitoring of the occurrence of this species and its habitat is needed.
