Tragosoma depsarium (Linnaeus, 1767)

Gracz

Familia  Cerambycidae
Ordo  Coleoptera
Classis  Insecta
Typus  Arthropoda

Summary  It is a widely distributed (Holarctic) species but in Europe extremely rare and disappearing at most of its localities. In Poland it was known from a few localities. For the last time the species was noted at least 80 years ago, therefore it may have become extinct in our country. The principal threat to this species is posed by the decline of old pine woods with large amounts of dead wood. It is recommended that special search for the species should be undertaken in potential places of its persistence and that protection should be given to possibly discovered subpopulations. If its occurrence is not confirmed, attempts at its reintroduction should be undertaken at selected localities, e.g. in the Białowieża Forest. Protected by law.
