Batozonellus lacerticida (Pallas, 1771)

Nastecznik żółtoskrzydły

Familia  Pompilidae
Ordo  Hymenoptera
Classis  Insecta
Typus  Arthropoda

Summary  It is a rarely noted and declining species in Central Europe. Not protected by law. Until 1950 it was reported from about a dozen localities in Poland; since the end of the 1970s has not been observed. It occurs in well-sunlit lowland areas on sandy substratum, covered by scarce vegetation. It is endangered with extinction due to afforestation of sandy areas treated as wasteland and intensive exploitation of sand. It is suggested that Batozonellus lacerticida should be given a species protection and its preferred habitats should be maintained. In lowlands, part of the dunes and sandy areas should be not forested; conservation measures should focus on the maintenance of a mosaic of non-forest areas and uneven-aged stands. The former localities of B. lacerticida should be included in the monitoring program.
