Dasypoda thoracica Baer, 1853

Obrostka ciemnonoga

Familia  Melittidae
Ordo  Hymenoptera
Classis  Insecta
Typus  Arthropoda

Summary  It is one of the rarest species of Melittidae in Poland. Not protected by law. To-day known from only three places (Kujawy, Nida River Valley, Kraków-Częstochowa Upland), though it was formerly reported from seven localities in other regions of the country. A decline in its numbers and withdrawal from certain localities is attributed to strong anthropopressure and overgrowing of nesting places. It is recommended to extend legal protection to the sites of Dasypoda thoracica occurrence, stop plant succession in nesting places and make attempts at its reintroduction.
