Cerophytum elateroides (Latreille, 1804)

Kolcoszyjek sprężykowy

Familia  Cerophytidae
Ordo  Coleoptera
Classis  Insecta
Typus  Arthropoda

Summary  The species is known in Poland from one locality where it is likely to have become extinct. However, it is not improbable that a small population of this beetle persists somewhere in the south of the country. Its rarity may be attributed to great scarcity of suitable habitats, i.e. old dying deciduous trees growing in loose forests (e.g. in forests in great river valleys), in old parks and similar plantings. Cerophytum elateroides conservation should be focused on the maintenance of its preferred habitats; tree tending should be limited in forests, parks and other plantings to the minimum.
