| Summary | Lixus cylindrus occurs mostly in the eastern lowland part of Poland. It is now collected in only Polesie Lubelskie, Podlasie Lowland and on the lower Vistula River; other localities need confirmation. It belongs to xerophilous species connected with sandy habitat and lives in herbaceous plant communities, particularly in glades in pine forests. In Poland L. cylindrus is trophically linked to Peucedanum oreoselinum; both imagines and larvae feed on this plant. Not protected by law. As the species is supposed to decline at many localities in Central Europe, it should be protected together with the whole of its biotopes. | |
