Leptothorax interruptus (Schenck, 1852)

Wysmuklica przerwana

Familia  Formicidae
Ordo  Hymenoptera
Classis  Insecta
Typus  Arthropoda

Summary  Lepothorax interruptus is a rare and little known European species, a stenotope of xerothermic habitats. In Poland noted twice at two distant localities: in Upper Silesia and, nearly 70 years later, in the Słowiński National Park (Baltic Coast); in the case of the latter locality only single worker ants were found. Identification of threats and formulation of recommendations for conservation need special studies. Active protection of L. interruptus habitat seems to be a prerequisite for conservation of this species.
