Sericus subaeneus (G. Redtenbacher, 1842)

Doskocz górski

Familia  Elateridae
Ordo  Coleoptera
Classis  Insecta
Typus  Arthropoda

Summary  It is a very rare species, confined to mountain areas with a cool microclimate. Most records of its occurrence in Poland are dated from the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, and the only contemporary information concerns three localities in the Sudety Mts. (two in the Karkonosze Mts. and one in the Góry Stołowe Mts.) and one locality in the Beskid Śląski Mts. It lives in the belts of mountain forests, dwarf pine and subalpine grasslands and tall-herb-communities. It seems that the real threat to Sericus subaeneus is the intense development of tourist facilities in the areas of its occurrence, and also use of pheromone traps against Bark Beetle (Ips typographus) in spruce forests. The maintenance of the present and potential localities of S. subaeneus depends on the permanent strict conservation of the most important habitats of the species. Not protected by law.
