| Summary | It is a species with originally Palearctic distribution, rare and disappearing in the whole of Europe and in Poland. Hagenella clathrata is connected with water bodies on raised bogs. Larvae show an aquatic mode of life. The species is threatened due to destruction and anthropogenic transformation of raised bogs. To protect the main habitats of the species, some peat pits should be renaturalized and larger areas should be designated as protected areas in the region of Polesie, on Polish as well as on Byelorussian and Ukrainian sides. | |
