Goleńczyk szczupły

Familia  Eucnemidae
Ordo  Coleoptera

Summary  It is an extremely rare species, considered as a relict of primeval forests, known from few scattered localities in the eastern regions of Northern and Central Europe. In Poland currently found in the Białowieża Forest only. It is associated with natural marshy forests where it prefers shadowed and very wet places. Its larvae develop in wet and soft aspen mould. The principal threats to the species are the shrinkage of the area of wet forests of primeval character and lowering of the ground water table in forests.
