| Summary | It is a rare saproxylobiontic species, reckoned among the relicts of primeval forests. In Poland it is not protected in any form. The only current localities of the species are situated beyond nature reserves. Protaetia fieberi is associated with cavities in old oaks and other deciduous trees; felling of these trees is a serious threat to its existence. The fragmented range and low numbers are not conducive to the expansion of the species; isolation of local populations may result in their genetic impoverishment and further regress. It is suggested that the current localities of P. fieberi should be protected in nature reserves or sites of ecological interest where suitable trees should be left to their natural decomposition.
