Heterocapillus tigripes (Mulsant et Rey, 1852)

Familia  Miridae
Ordo  Hemiptera
Classis  Insecta
Typus  Arthropoda

Summary  Heterocapillus tigripes is one of the rarest representatives of the family Miridae in Poland. So far only one locality of this species, in the environs of Pińczów, has been found in Poland. A part of its locality is included in a nature reserve; the other fragments are spontaneously overgrowing or planted with forest. It is recommended that selection of places for afforestation should be consulted with a specialist. There is a need for active protection of xerothermic grasslands, belonging to the Inuletum ensifoliae association, with Dorycnium germanicum which is a host plant of this heteropter. H. tigripes is not protected by law.
